The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon is just days away and participants are rigorously training for the year’s most awaited marathon. With 31000 committed runners at the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM), medical attention becomes a critical pillar to the success of the event. Max Healthcare, the country’s leading healthcare service provider, joins hands with ADHM as their official medical partner for the second year in a row.
As the foremost provider of healthcare services, Max Healthcare is supporting the event with 7 Advanced Cardiac Life Support ambulances and over 150 doctors, besides medical emergency specialists, paramedics and nurses manning the Base Stations and Medical Stations along the route of 21.097 kms.
Tips for Marathon Runners : Run in a group-Warm up and cool down-Stay hydrated and fueled up-Wear proper shoes and running gear-Mind the surface on which you run-Be careful of injuries-Listen to your body-Do a quick stretch before and a full stretch after the marathon -Carbs are important-Ask for help from volunteers, medical stations or ambulance crew if you are not feeling well during the race.
According to Dr Anurag Krishna, Clinical Director, Max Healthcare, “We are proud to partner with ADHM as their healthcare partner for the second consecutive year, as the event aligns well with our goal of encouraging Delhites to follow a healthier lifestyle. Our well equipped ambulances and medical teams comprising of emergency medicine specialists, doctors, nurses and physios, will be deployed all along the route to ensure that medical contingencies if any, are managed well. This year we will see patients as old as 70 years who have undergone either joint replacement, neuro surgery or cardiac surgery running at the Marathon, which will be a motivation for many other participants.”
Dr Tamorish Kole, Director – Emergency Medicine, Max Healthcare and Event Director, ADHM said, “Max Healthcare places tremendous emphasis upon medical and service excellence. While we hope for the best, at events like these it is important that one is prepared for eventualities of any nature. Last year, a practising physician suffered a cardiac arrest while running. He was immediately resuscitated by a medical team of which Dr Ajay Bakshi, MD and CEO of Max Healthcare who is himself a Neuro-surgeon, was a member. This year too, Max Healthcare will be well prepared to ensure the safety of the runners.” He further added, “There are trainings sessions and team briefings that are being conducted every day for the emergency staff at all our hospitals to ensure that the smallest detail is taken care of. Our ambulances are fully equipped with state of the art life support systems which are managed by a remote command center using the latest Medical Dispatch protocols. The 2 Medical base stations and the 6 medical stations are being manned by our team of emergency medical professionals who have the experience of handling such large scale events. The runners can be assured of the best care at their disposal and just focus on running.”
Continuously striving to make a difference, Max Healthcare remains in pursuit of encouraging a healthier lifestyle. Max Healthcare, a chain of super-speciality hospitals, has ably handled events of this scale in the past like earlier Marathons, Indian Premier League matches and International golf tournaments.
