
2016 edition, 85,000 lives impacted raising Rs 6.67 Crore
The 10th edition of Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2017 is living upto its reputation of not only becoming the largest sporting event of Delhi but also the largest Philanthropy platform in North India. The race has till date raised over Rs. 5 crore thanks to the tireless efforts of the NGO’s and the guidance and support from our Philanthropy partners – India Cares Foundation. The contributions will keep coming till 30th November at www.icfn.in/ADHM.
Currently, 90 teams fielded by 62 Corporate entities have registered to run comprising of 2500+ employees from these companies. 54 Care Champions are raising an average of Rs 2.50 lakh each. Over 300 Individuals, children as young as 9 year olds and retirees too are raising funds for the participating CSOs working in all causes.
India Cares, the event’s Philanthropy Partner engaged 24/7 with CSOs, companies, and individuals from as early as July and will continue working weeks after Race Day, to communicate the work and impact of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon to the rest of the Society.

Adding to this, Vivek Singh, Jt, Managing Director, Procam International shared, “The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon is more than just winning or participating in a running event. It is about winning hearts of people, touching lives and creating a positive impact on society. We believe philanthropy isn’t about just raising money but solving problems, and implementing basic innovations that transform society. We are glad that our partners India Cares Foundation believe in this and actually put that in practice.”
In 2016, over 8817 donors, 71 companies contributed the generous amount of Rs 6.67 Crore via the 90+ Civil Society Organisations (CSOs/ NGOs). It has had direct impact on the quality of 49,943 lives during the year, while the work of the CSOs also touched 35,260 people indirectly, through camps and outreach programmes, besides the families of these 85,000+ individuals.
As has been the trend at Airtel Delhi Half Marathon, the health category has had the most impact with 32,766 being provided with checkup, screening, treatments and medicines for various aliments like HIV, blood transfusions, eye care, nutrition supplements for young and old alike, with the highest number being 6541 pregnant and lactating mother and child being provided checkup, meals and nutrition.
Over 15,157 children’s education was supported, from first standard to degree college students, more than half of them received after school lessons in English, Math and Science; four classrooms were built, over 25 teacher’s salaries were sponsored during the year and 3,916 children were given complete care – home, food and education.
The philanthropy made a difference to the lives of young and elder alike. 643 elders were able to get their stay, food and health care during the year. 421 differently abled received skills training for suitable jobs. 797 Youth and Women were provided with vocational training in technical trades and in such courses as tailoring, beauticians course, vegetable farming and 1,180 were provided guidance for their available options and decision-making.
Efforts were made to help over 6,000 people understand their rights in relation to Government and other schemes; and to educate them about waste segregation, water conservation and recycling.
To add more smiles, a mass community wedding arranged for 14 underprivileged girls under one roof. All of the girls were from different religious backgrounds and were married according to their faith with 2000 well-wishers invited to bless the newlyweds.

This Children’s Day at Airtel Delhi Half Marathon’s Charity Press Conference is hosted and graced by the Children raising funds for various causes. The panelists are students from the A+ schools of Delhi NCR and those who have received education through the work of the Civil Society Organisation (CSOs/ NGOs) raising funds through this platform

Nitish Sahni – A class XI student at Shri Ram School, Nitish is a passionate runner doing his first 10K run this year. A regular fundraiser for various causes since 2014, he spends a lot of time volunteering through the year.
Pooja came to the ‘Home’ run by Karm Marg Charitable Society when she was 13 along with her sister. They both were transferred to Karm Marg Home from another orphanage. It’s been two years now, she has come to love this Home as her own. She is studying in 9th standard and also is also learning contemporary dance and yoga.
Keertannya Ojh Khandelwaal is a student of Class IX of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Lodhi Road, New Delhi with an international chess ranking. He has volunteered with AADI from a few years with his skills and time and is raising funds as he believes that people with disability have the ability to do all that any of us can do and should get equal opportunities and a chance to prove themselves.
Kashika Malhotra is a X grade student at Pathways School, Gurgaon. Her strengths include being selfless, helpful, outspoken, witty, believing and exercising philanthropic activities. She feels responsible and passionate towards various social causes, and believes strongly in equality. She has hobbies including dancing and playing basketball.
Sariful Islam a class XII student at Lotus Petal Foundation’s School, has completed one year’s vocational training course too. He wants to complete BCA studies and join a reputed company to support his family.
